The mission at Rosie’s Retreat is always to create a fun environment for your dog where they can thrive. Just as you would do in a training environment, we want to set the individuals up for success. Since our opening in July 2024, we are always learning a lot about the best way to run the socialising element of the job to make sure that our residents are the happiest they can be. Learning through our mass of experience with dogs along with the science of breed specific behaviour, we therefore must review the breeds that may not be a great fit for this type of environment. Certain characteristics of dogs may not give them the best opportunity here – elements such as a prey-drive, herding instinct or high overstimulation may cause friction in the fragile balance of creating a safe daycare environment.

Please see below the list of dogs that we are unable to accept at the daycare. We would like to add that there are over 400 breeds of dogs, so your dog breed may not be listed, but once we have received the pre-assessment form we will be in touch to confirm if we will book them in. Any dogs who fall under the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) cannot attend the facility. Lastly, if you do bring your dog after filling out the pre-assessment form and we feel that the breed falls into one of these categories, we may not be able to go ahead with the assessment.
